Mazatlan, often referred to as the Pearl of the Pacific, is a beautiful colonial city located on Mexico’s west coast. It lies approximately at the same latitude as Hawaii and therefore Mazatlan is always sunny and warm with an average temperature of 82° Fahrenheit/28 Celcius. The city is easily accessible via air, road, and sea. Many airlines and charter flight companies offer direct flights to Mazatlan from main Mexican and international cities.
For the nautical tourism lovers, the Pearl of the Pacific is a part of the Project aiming at integrating marinas along the Sea of Cortes and the Pacific side of Californian Peninsula. The Escalera Nautica involves 4 states and at minimum 24 nautical steps including Mazatlan Marina.Escalera Nautica and can be easily accessed by boat from main ports located on the North America’s west coast. Finally, if you are a fan of road trips and would like to do some sightseeing while driving from Canada or the US, it can make quite an enjoyable experience.
Mazatlan is located on the main highway connecting Canada and the US with Central America and the road conditions on this highway are very good. Once you cross the US – Mexico border in Arizona, it will take you about 12 hours to get to Mazatlan. There are several tourist attractions that you can visit on the way and one of the most remarkable sites is the Copper Canyon which, according to some, is even more impressive than the breathtaking Grand Canyon in the US.
